The Basics
Operating at an average power of less than 1W, the VIA C7-M ULV processor is the embodiment of cool processing and sets the standard for next generation low power mobile and personal electronics systems. It also features VIA PowerSaver technology that further reduces power consumption by dynamically adjusting the frequency and the voltage of the VIA C7-M ULV processor as the system requires. This innovative technology can reduce power consumption by as much as 50 percent while still ensuring seamless mobile operation.
Screen, Video & Audio
The 8.9-inch display has a 1280 x 768-pixel resolution, for native 720p high-resolution clarity, and the Mini-Note includes a VGA output for connecting to an external monitor or projector. Video is powered by the integrated Via Chrome 9 video/graphics card, and it includes an integrated high-definition audio card for crisp sound via the internal 2-watt stereo speakers.
Networking, Connectivity & Expansion
This notebook has an integrated tri-mode Intel 3945ABG wireless LAN (802.11a/b/g), with throughput up to 54 Mbps at 5 GHz (802.11a) and 2.4 GHz (802.11g). It's compatible with 802.11b/g networks (commonly found in home routers and Wi-Fi hotspots) as well as 802.11a networks (which has a higher throughput, but more limited range--great for closed office environments). You also get super-fast wired connectivity via the Gigabit Ethernet port (10/100/1000).
The Mini-Note also includes a next-generation ExpressCard 54/34 card slot (replacing the PCMCIA slot), which lets you take advantage of thinner, faster, and lighter expansion cards for even more advanced wireless, networking, storage, and security features. And it offers a Secure Digital memory card slot for downloading pictures and videos from your digital camera, or filling up a card for your MP3 player. It includes the following ports:

Customer Reviews
Fantastic build, terrible CPU!
I bought an MSI Wind a week after getting the Mini-Note because even after installing Xubuntu and upgrading to 2gb, this netbook is simply underpowered to handle anything other than text editing, terminal usage and light web browsing.
To be fair, the build quality is amazing -- this is definitely one of the nicest keyboards I've used on -any- computer. And everything else is top-notch... everything but the CPU! And when it comes down to it, this is one of the first computers I've had that's primarily bottlenecked by the processor.
The 1280 x 768 resolution, which sounds great on paper, is absolutely useless on an 8.9" screen. You can bump up the dpi on your OS, but you're bound to run into various elements of apps that don't respect this setting, which translates into microscopic UI elements.
The 3-cell battery life is abysmal, eking out an average of 1:40 of portability. The only reason you'd want one of these tiny creatures is to carry it around. Nobody wants to sit at home plugged in with their microscopic 8.9" screen.
HP is so close with the 2133. I really wanted to make this netbook work, trying Ubuntu -and- Xubuntu (after many random headaches in the installation process). But the MSI Wind blows it out of the water with a reasonable 1024x600 10" screen and zippy 1.6ghz atom processor.
The speakers are also better on the HP than the MSI. The HP 2133 has surprisingly powerful speakers that actually face you (at the expense of a ginormous bevel). And although I understand a laptop shouldn't necessarily be judged by speakers, the MSI speakers send their tinny bark somewhere opposite the viewer, and require pulling out the headphones to really experience a movie or hulu. Also, the MSI keyboard is decent with good tactile feedback -- but the half-sized ,./ keys and smaller SHIFT to fit the arrow keys causes many typos. There's no doubt it's a compromise for the CPU and screen.
If you want this keyboard (and it's well worth lusting after), take a look at the Mini-Note 1000. And if you want all the juicy "business" class expandability with the keyboard and incredibly well-designed aluminum case, I hear there's an Atom version of the 2133 coming out soon.
Otherwise I'd look elsewhere. So close HP! But sorry, the VIA C7-M is a piece of junk and should have never been released with this sexy body!
Overall I'm much more impressed with the 6-cell MSI Wind, even if it did cost me an extra $150 (50% more!) and that says something.
Linux OP is too complicated
WAS DISAPPOINTED IN THE FACT THAT PC HAD LINUX OPERATING SYSTEM NOT WINDOWS
RETURNED PRODUCT AND AMAZON WAS VERY PROMPT IN ISSUING A REFUND
Do not buy
I returned this computer in one day. The processor was slow and you cannot even watch video - very choppy image. If you haven't used Linux before like I do, there is a huge learning curve. Stick with the XP version with the Atom processor.
