Lot's of Hardware, Exemplary Warranties
I'm liking the N80Vn-GP011C. It's fast and loaded with features. The warranties are crazy great.
Pros:
1. Exemplary warranties with meat. Two year global warranty. Free next day shipping to/from repair depot. 30 day zero dead pixel (mine has one). Free one year accidental damage.
2. Bright LED backlit XGA display. Usable in Arizona's sunshine. I'm delighted I can now use my notebook on a sunny day.
3. Cool, low wattage, P8600 processor.
4. Fast DirectX 10 graphics processor reported to run all games.
5. 5.0+ Windows Experience Index
6. Unusual ports: HDMI, S/PDIF, eSATA
7. Plays ripped Blu-rays at 1080p60. 1080p24 has a bit of judder. Only 30% CPU utilization.
8. Black frame reduces reflections.
Cons:
1. ASUS N80 series currently isn't offering a WXGA+ LED model.
2. LED screen has narrow ideal horizontal position. Must be tilted just right. This is my biggest gripe.
3. No lighted keyboard.
4. Battery occasionally quits charging just under 100% -- Seems ok now.
5. Can't reinstall Vista (rescue disk) without wiping disk?
6. Awkward CTRL key -- small and difficult location.
7. Painfully long device driver installation.
8. Zillions of drivers on installation disk. You can load only the ones you want but there's no description of what they're for. Installer needs option to install minimum software (drivers only) and offer descriptions of each software option.
9. Not a thin and light.
10. 2.5 hours of surfing on 6 cell battery. I recommend the 9 cell.
11. Black casing shows dust easily.
12. Glare type screen is ... sometimes glaring.
Notes:
1. Had problem playing DVDs until a player prompted me for the initial region code (USA is 1).
